Liuzhou receives 11.5 million tourists in the first half of the year

Liuzhou's tourism has been thriving in recent years, thanks to its famous tourist attractions such as the Miao buildings and Baili River.

In the first half of this year, Liuzhou received 11.5 million domestic and foreign tourists with a year-on-year growth of 19 percent. Tourism revenues reached 9.86 billion yuan ($1.58 billion) with a year-on-year growth of 20.98 percent. Of the total, domestic tourism revenue accounted for 9.68 billion yuan, growing by 18 percent and foreign tourism revenue reached $28.1 million, which grew by 27.85 percent.

Liuzhou has committed to developing its tourism industry through carrying out support policies, intensifying advertising and developing tourism projects. Many famous tourist attractions are helping to boost Liuzhou's tourism.

Liuzhou has launched a series of advertising activities to popularize its tourism. It launched "the 2014 Hiking Festival", "Discover Beautiful Liuzhou" and "Enjoy Life in Liuzhou Travelling Festival" and invited research groups from other places to advertise its tourism services in HongKong and Macao and on the most popular TV programs in Guangdong province.

Liuzhou is also striving to upgrade its tourism services, hoping to develop more A-level national tourist attractions, of which it has so far developed 30, including 17 four-A national tourist attractions and 13 three-A national tourist attractions, ranking the second in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Liuzhou is completing the infrastructure construction in scenic spots to improve its tourism services. In the next few years, it plans to develop more tourism projects, promote tourism incorporating Miao and Zhuang culture and integrate with Guilin to promote tourism in Guangxi.(source: chinadaily.com.cn)
