Hechi University Performs Well in Single Bamboo Drafting
Hechi University Single Bamboo Drafting Delegation won a total of 10 awards in the 10th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities of the People's Republic of China on Aug 10-11.
The Traditional Games held from Aug 9 to Aug 17 was sponsored by State Ethnic Affairs Commission and State General Administration of Sports and organized by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional People's Government. The event of single bamboo drafting was held at the Wulan Mulun Lake in Erdos.
Participating in the Games on behalf of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, the Hechi University Single Bamboo Drafting Delegation that included three females and three males got one gold, three silver and six bronze medals.
Lu Chuntao won the championship in the single bamboo drafting 100-meter racing. It became the first gold award won by the Guangxi team in the 10th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities and also the first prize by Guangxi single bamboo drafting team in the same Games.
The single bamboo drafting was officially added as a competitive event in the 9th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities in 2011. As it has high ornamental value, the event attracted popular attention and became a major contest in the Games.
