Overview:Reed Flute Cave known as "the Palace of Natural Arts ” is located in the northwest of Guilin City , 5 kilometers away from the center of the city. It is a cave on the southern shoulder of the Guangming Hill (Bright Hill) and is one of the most extraordinary scenic spots in Guilin.
Located outside of downtown Guilin, the Reed Flute Cave has been a favorite site in Guilin for over 1,200 years. The cave is famous for its bizarre stalactite and stalagmite formations. It got its name from the reeds which grew around the entrance.
The locals carved them into slide whistles. The interior of the cave is U-shaped and the stalagmite formations are lit up with multi-colored lights adding to their already bizarre shapes. Ancient inscriptions dating back over 1,000 years have been found in and around the cave. Inside the cave is an interior lake that’s mirror-like surface beautifully reflects the surrounding formations.
