Shaanxi province held a Yaozhou porcelain exhibition at Fangchenggang Library on June 15. Lasting until Aug 31, the exhibition included 231 pieces of porcelain and unearthed cultural relics. The exhibited treasures mainly showed the achievements and charm of Yaozhou Kiln and its influence on ceramics industrial production in Guangxi and Vietnam in ancient times.
The Yaozhou Kiln is a famous Chinese kiln known for its celadon. The kiln opened during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907) and has over 1,400 years of history. The Yaozhou Kiln Historic Site is rated as one of "China's Top 100 Archaeological Discoveries" in the 20th century and one of Shaanxi's Top 10 Archaeological Discoveries. It is also a national key cultural relics protection site and its traditional manual porcelain making craft is included in the national intangible cultural heritage list.
According to Xie Riwan, associate counsel of Guangxi Agency of Cultural Affairs, the exhibition in Fangchenggang is Yaozhou porcelain's second show in Guangxi, after the first in Nanning. It is a grand cultural exchange and cooperation event between Shaanxi and Guangxi, helping enrich Fangchenggang people's cultural lives and boost Guangxi's cultural development.
