Fangchenggang Approved as Guangxi's First Fruit Import Port
Fangchenggang was recently approved as an appointed fruit import port by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, according to Fangchenggang's entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau on April 24.
The city is now Guangxi's first fruit import port. It was also approved for grain imports in 2014.
Because imported fruits have many safety problems and high risk, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine appoints certain ports of entry for fruit imports.
Since the application in 2013, Fangchenggang gave full play to its technological and information advantages and conduct construction in strict accordance with the standards of fruit import port in fields such as electronic monitoring system, fruit checking, refrigeration and test item extension.
The new qualification allows fruits from more countries to be imported, such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Chile and South Africa. It will satisfy the demand for fresh fruit of Guangxi and Southwest China.
