11th Chinese Dong Duoye Festival kicks off in Sanjiang

The 11th Chinese (Liuzhou • Sanjiang) Dong Duoye Festival was held in the Sanjiang Dong autonomous county, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, from Nov 15 to 16.

Tens of ethnic groups such as Zhuang, Dong, Miao and Yao, living in Guilin’s multinational autonomous county of Longsheng, Liuzhou’s Sanjiang Dong autonomous county, Hunan Huaihua’s Tongdao Dong autonomous county and Shaoyang’s Chengbu Miao autonomous county, which make up the border area of Guangxi and Hunan, have maintained their colorful folk customs to the present day. Longsheng, Sanjiang, Tongdao and Chengbu autonomous counties have signed “China’s Great Guilin – Guangxi Hunan Original Custom Festival” agreement to integrate the local ethnic minority cultural tourism resources in order to build a special ethnic minority’s tourism brand and boost the local tourism industry.

The various original folk customs activities and beautiful ecological landscape in Longsheng, Guilin, have attracted thousands of tourists since the first Folk Customs and Culture Festival held in Longsheng in 2012. The theme of Sanjiang’s Duoye Festival is “Brilliant Ethnic Customs – Big Duoye Family”. The activities at the festival will combine singing and dancing with folk customs. Local artists will perform the Miao and Dong ethnic groups’ traditional dancing and singing at the opening ceremony. Sanjiang will also hold a tourism promotion meeting and many other activities with local characteristics for Guangxi and Hunan’s four autonomous counties during the festival.(source: china daily)
