Hechi Bronze Drum and Folk Song Art Festival in Luocheng

The organizing committee of the 15th Hechi Bronze Drum and Folk Song Art Festival held a press conference in Nanning on Nov 6, announcing that the Art Festival will be held in Luocheng Mulao autonomous county from Nov 23 to 26.

The theme of the 15th Hechi Bronze Drum and Folk Song Art Festival is “Attractive Hechi, Beautiful Luocheng”. The Art Festival will focus on Hechi’s bronze drum culture, health preserving culture and Luocheng’s national culture, integrating the new image of the Luocheng Mulao autonomous county built up in the 30 years after its establishment, and the upgrading of Hechi’s national culture to new heights.

The four characteristics of this Art Festival are: strong awareness of frugality, prominent national features, highlighted themes and high level of people’s participation.

Hechi is in the northwestern quadrant of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, an old revolutionary base area with many ethnic groups and different kinds of resources. It is also “The World’s Bronze Drum Hometown”. In order to better protect Hechi’s traditional bronze drum culture and develop its cultural tourism brand, Hechi government has held the Bronze Drum and Folk Song Art Festival every year since 1999. At present, the Hechi Bronze Drum and Folk Song Art Festival has become one of Guangxi’s three major art festivals with the other two being the Nanning International Folk Song Arts Festival and the Guilin Landscape Tourism Festival.
