China Powerboat League opens in Liuzhou,Guangxi

The China Powerboat League held its opening contest for 2014, from May 1 - 3, in the city of Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Now in its fourth session, this year’s league has added a seated watercraft flying competition, which is more difficult to complete but more exciting to watch, to its original four programs – an F4 motorboat race, an F4 motorboat battle, a seated watercraft race, and a vertical water watercraft race.

The limit on brands in the F4 motorboat competitions was lifted this year, and even changing boat shape was allowed, making the race faster.

According to the operators, the motorboat league will be organized in six to eight different locations, including Liuzhou in Guangxi, Pengshui Miao autonomous county in Chongqing municipality, and Danjiangkou city in Hubei province.

Wan Hongjun, an official in China’s General Administration of Sport, said that the league has pushed China’s motorboat level to a more professional standard, significantly filling the gap between China and developed countries.
