Hechi Shines at 10th Guangxi Garden Expo

The city of Hechi in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has swept the board at the 10th Guangxi Garden Expo, which opened on Aug 29, taking home the first, second and third prizes for flower arrangement.

Hosted by the city of Hezhou and featuring flower displays and arrangements from all across Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, the expo is held each year to promote natural ecology and boost the landscaping industry.

According to experts attending the expo, the ethnic culture displays, park architecture and achievements in landscaping and horticulture across the region this year are even better than in years previous.

Covering 4,500 square meters, the Hechi garden at the expo has a green area of 3,346 square meters with greenery coverage up to 77.2 percent.

Based on natural scenery, Hechi's entry not only features the customs and characteristics of the Yao ethnic group, but also embodies various regional traits such as terraces and mountain village.

Hechi's display, a perfect blend of traditional and modern horticulture, according to experts, provides visitors with a vivid display of regional culture and ethnic characteristics beside statues of Yao women singing, dancing and beating drums.
